The music “without support” of the pianist and composer Marcello Gallina.

There are those who prefer the Internet. The pianist and composer Marcello Gallina, of Sicilian origin but a Venetian resident since 2001, has chosen the Internet as a tool for diffusion and promotion of his songs – all of them composed under the “Creative Commons” license and published on web sites such  as “Vitaminic” and “MySpace”.
Gallina is a kind of pioneer when it comes to self promotion on the Internet: the musician has been nominated for the International Online Music Award 2009, launched by the web site ‘Meer Music International Fame Games’ as a composer in the Classical / Ambient genre. With another piano theme, Marcello Gallina has already qualified to the Fame Games quarter-finals on the international music web site “Meer Music”, in the Classical category, having received many positive comments and ratings from international reviewers on the web. The quarter-finals were broadcasted across the United States on ‘ABC Radio Networks Fame Games Radio’.
When it comes to composing melodies, the pianist and composer is often inspired by the lands surrounding him: the compositions “Atlantide Veneziana” and the recent “Confini Lagunari” are inspired by Venice, for example, while “Il Risveglio del Piave” is inspired by the city of San Donà di Piave (where he lives). Last but not least, “La Città delle Aquile” is dedicated to Palermo, his home town.
The composer’s music, whose personal website is www.marcellogallina.jimdo.com, has its roots in the classical tradition, with the fusion of elements derived from contemporary, ambient and new age music, along side evocative melodies suggesting emotion. In September a piano theme entitled “Italians In The World” has been issued online on the international website “SoundClick”: it is dedicated to Italian Americans for the reason that Marcello Gallina is very appreciated via web in the USA.
