The new Venetian night? It’ll be glamour and exclusive. The latest way to enjoy Venice is “947” (Campo SS. Filippo e Giacomo, Castello 4338, tel. (+39) 0415229293), the restaurant-lounge bar of brothers Max and Raffaele Costa. A venue housing a project, a vision of the lagoon city’s future. “Our hope,” explains Max Costa, “is to bring glamour back to Venice. 947’s clientele will be selective: a concept overlooked for decades in the struggle to conquer mass tourism.”
The goal of the lounge bar, opening soon, whose seductively-furnished rooms NYCVE previewed, is in fact to close its doors to the public at large within a few months, becoming a member club, a reference point for cosmopolitan Venetians and a network of habitués from all over the world.
From a gastronomic point of view, 947’s originality is guaranteed by a patented invention, “Stilo:” fork, spoon and knife all together. “Based on this particular utensil that we had created specifically for us,” says Max Costa, “we are creating a specific menu, inspired by Mediterranean cuisine but composed of natural flavors and ingredients, top-quality and light: dishes to eat with friends, making lunch or dinner a moment that brings people together”.
Various services will be proposed to members, in line with 947’s style. From checking out the latest “in” hotels to organizing trips, from days of golf to evenings at the casino, from excursions to events aboard pleasure boats, even brunch on a gondola. “Whoever decides to belong to the 947 community will find harmony, good food, and above all,” explains Max Costa, “original, fun and whimsical ideas to make their stay in Venice a modern and glamour experience”.
